Mid-Century Modern Warehouse

A vibrant couple and their two boys found their dream home just steps away from their Tribeca rental. Known as the Sugar Warehouse Building, this landmark has New York’s beginnings encapsulated within its walls. Our client fell in love with an open-concept corner unit, flooded with light and potential.

After learning about the couple’s bustling careers, family-oriented lifestyle, and roots in California; we wanted to create an urban oasis. We honed in on the grand room, a multi-functional space for cooking, dining, relaxing, entertaining, playing (the list goes on!) Most importantly, the design would welcome family and friends of all ages.

“What we love most about the space is that it feels curated and pulled together thoughtfully without feeling precious. With two young kids, it was important to have the space be practical for a lot of activity and gatherings.

Alicia helped us think through both the aesthetic design and the functionality of it all. She also introduced us to new brands and designers that we would have never come across, and now we are devoted followers of!”

Design Themes.

While we can’t put just one name on this design; we do have a few key themes:

  • Aesthetic - A sophisticated mid-century modern aesthetic

  • Mood - Creating a playful mood via bold colors, organic and geometric shapes

  • Feeling - A feeling of a “warm hug” by layering a variety of handmade, patterned textiles

  • Personalization - Personalizing the space via hand selected art, restored vintage pieces, and global accents
